The show must go on

Originally Law and Order:Trial by Jury had been touted as a mid-season show. Then there was the news that Jerry had died and I for one wasn't sure if the series would go on. However, I finally saw an ad on tv for it. The first episode will be on March 17th, with the "official" premiere on April 1st. Jerry had already been in a couple episode (at least 3) before his death and I think they still plan on using them. The cast seems pretty good and I am especially amused by the inclusion of Frasier's ex Lilith...

A stripper was awarded $650,000 in damages after she was attacked by a Tiger in a safari park in Canada. Her boyfriend was awarded even more because he was unable to work as an acordian player. The most surprising aspect of this case is not that she was awarded wages she lost because of her scarring? Instead, I'd say the weirdest part is that the stripper was dating an acordian player.
Dr. Carson came to talk to us today and he said somethings I thought I'd share with you guys.

(In reference to the egos of drs) As doctors you will be among the most educated people, but you are there to be servants.

(In reference to malpractice suits) No matter how good or smart you are, you'll make mistakes. The difference will be in whether you have the humility to admit it and the decency to fix it.

It's nice to know older doesn't mean more mature

Doug, one of my ex-boyfriends, sent me this last night. Let's just say I was amused and glad to know that not everyone grows up. ;)

They took away my brain...

We're doing the brain and head region now. So, Friday, I used the saw to remove the top of the skull. However, our brain wasn't preserved correctly...so it was mushy and the lab instructors took it away... :( Seriously, it was probably the most disgusting thing I've ever seen and the smells...well let's just say they make everything else seem not so bad.

As far as the U2 tour goes, here are the dates and venues for the 1st leg. It doesn't look good. Minneapolis and Washington DC were both left off the list. So, I dunno what I'm going to do. I suppose I can wait it out for the 3rd leg and hope they come closer.

In other news, life in Baltimore is same-old, same-old. However, now there is no U2 tour date in Minneapolis... sadness.

Does Hallmark make a "Sorry you're being sued" card?

So, some interesting news from USD. As it turns out, Dr. Keating (from the physics dept) is suing everyone in the state of SD. Ok, not everyone...but the list is pretty long and there aren't that many ppl there. ;) I don't know all the details of the drama, but Dr. Keller is on the list of defendants and that makes me sad...She was an awesome professor. But, I can't see how Dr. Keating could win anyway, I mean even the governor is on the list...and that seems kinda silly.

In other news: U2 Concert details announced Monday. Stay tuned.

Something different

I was talking to Kari today and explaining that anatomy has been good in answering some questions I had had. For example, what is that squishy part that extends from the base of the thumb to the wrist and what's in it? (Btw-it's the thenar eminence.) So, I just wanted to say that if anyone has a question, especially about anatomy (but below the head, we start that tomorrow...), I should be able to answer it...or at least know some real smart people who do. ;)

The U2 gods must be angry...

So last night I was studying for an exam I had this morning. Like I usually do when I study, I had the tv on. I have one of those tv/vcr combos in my room right now since I live in an Eastern European prison. Currently in the vcr is my U2 tape (well actually I have more than one, but I digress) because I put The Killers' SNL performance on it. Anyway, at one point I tried to change the channel and the remote didn't seem to be working. However, I could still adjust the volume. I thought it was weird, but I didn't want to waste the brainpower figuring it out. A little while later the vcr starts clicking. Of course I know what that means, the tape has gotten to the end and since I was watching tv, it wasn't playing which only leaves one option, it was recording. At this point I have an instant heart attack at the thought of erasing U2. So, I rewind the tape. Ok, first U2 show on there is fine. Ok, U2's SNL stuff is fine. The next songs are The Killers on SNL. I thought I was ok since the beginning is on it. But, before the first song is over, random commercials come on. I think it's odd that I have never taped over anything before and the first time it happens is a couple days after I put another band on my U2 tape. I think the U2 gods were angry. I guess I'll have to sacrifice a goat or a virgin...

The wait begins...

U2 should have a new tour coming up though at this point dates and venues are only rumors. However, it is possible that Minneapolis will once again be on the tour. If so, I'll probably be flying back there so that maybe some of you SD kids can come too. ;) I've signed up for the U2 tour email list so I'll be hearing lots of rumors. I also bought the U2 subscription so that I have access to advanced ticket sales. I dunno how this will work. Last time I had that but it was free and it was only 2 tickets. Maybe it's only 2 this time too, I guess we'll see. I don't expect I'll use it much, but I do have a new e-mail address with the @u2.com. Hooray! *sigh* I'm such a nerd...

The Killers

For those of you who aren't aware, you can add The Killers to my list of favorite bands. They were on SNL tonight. Well technically I suppose they are currently ON SNL since SNL isn't over yet. Anyway, they've played Somebody Told Me so far and I was a happy girl. While I am on the subject of The Killers, I wanted to say "way to go" to them for their 3 Grammy nominations. I suppose those are a big deal, though I think they should be prouder for their SNL performance being added to my U2 tape...now that's a big deal ;)

For those of you who didn't catch last night's law and order episode...

Last night was supposed to be Elisabeth Rohm's last night since she's leaving mid-season for a "movie career." How did they get rid of her? She got fired... hehehe. I am so amused. As a last minute "shocker" she asks, "It's not because I'm a lesbian is it?" I suppose they had to throw that in, to explain why Jack never slept with her. ;) However, as Chris was quick to point out, Jack might have just slept with her AND her girlfriend, the eyebrows are THAT good.

That's it, It's official, The world had ended

CBS has a new show in the works. It's a search for a new lead singer for INXS. WHAT?? I'm sorry, how on earth do they think this is a good idea? Poor Michael Hutchence. I know he's not Kennedy or Elvis, but I remember where I was when I heard he had died. I have more to say, but yet I can't find the words...I think I'm still in shock...

I suppose some people may be happy about this...

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt have split. I know this may make some people very happy (ie millions of females who saw Troy), but I for one am very sad. I know I don't know these people, and I'm sure this may make me old-fashioned, but I like it when couples (especially beautiful ones) make it work. *sigh* I guess that makes me a romantic. Of note, they've been together for about 7 years (married for over 4). The so-called 7 yr itch strikes again. Anyway, I'm sure I'll have more to say when the news sinks in.

The cutest news article I've ever seen

It's the age-old story of a friendship between a baby hippo and a tortoise. Seriously, it's soooo cute. But, the want to put the baby hippo with a lonely girl hippo. The make the effort to point out that she's lonely, so I don't want to be mean to her either, but can't they leave the baby hippo with the tortoise? Can't they all hang out? Then no one's lonely and that really seems like the best option...

A Quick Law and Order Update

First, next week is Elisabeth Rohm's last week on Law and Order....hooray!! The NBC website has something about her leaving for a movie career. I hear she's in Miss Congieniality II, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Her replacement is Annie Parisse. That's right, we're back to brunettes. It seems Wolf wants to go back to what works. I'm super-excited.

As those of you who read David's website would know, Law and Order:Criminal Intent dedicated the new episode last Sunday to Jerry. The new Law and Order episode that aired tonight had a touching tribute at the end. I'll be honest...I cried a little...

Back to Business

I realized today that the point of this website was to update ppl as to my current activities and I haven't said much about that lately. I suppose I could start by saying that this year is almost half-over (we're not out until June 8th) and I haven't flunked out yet, so I'm guessing that's a good thing. I'm still in the anatomy block and we just started the lower limbs (yes Eric, I'll let you know about the feet as soon as we get there). I'm doing a presentation on Friday on the lower limbs, so we'll see how that goes. Then it's off to the upper limbs and back and then head, neck, and cranial nerves...wheee! In short, I'll be all smelly until early Feb. ;)

In other news, I'm taking the second training course for the volunteering bit with the infants with medical problems. I'm really excited. Cuddling with babies!! Who wouldn't love that?

The airline misplaced my luggage coming on my flight back to Baltimore, but they found it, but I think it still counts as a "lost luggage experience" so I should be good for another 10 flights at least.

I'll be back in SD for my spring break in March for sure, but I'm hoping to get back one more time in addition to that. Going all the way to June just seems rough. I mean Baltimore's nice and I must say the shopping's better, but it can't seem like home while I'm in the dorm out here. And, if I luck out Kari will still come see me. ;)

I wish I knew stuff about space and math...

I love Google...besides its obvious niftiness...their sense of humor never ceases to amaze me.
